After a good night's rest we set out to explore La Fortuna a bit. We quickly found our go to restaurant that was open 24 hours a day and fast. The day started with some gallo pinto and a batido.
We dropped our laundry off, and walked around town while we waited for it to be finished. This little dog belonged to the woman who worked at the laundromat.
We got back just in time to be picked up for our Costa Rican cooking class, which I had booked from home. First lesson was how to make ceviche.
And patacones - my favorite! I haven't tried them yet, but I'm thrilled that I know how now.
First course:
Putting my plate together
Time to eat! I think the camote was my favorite - it literally tasted like a sweet potato, not like ours which have their own flavor.
Coconut flan for dessert.
The view from the kitchen - not too shabby eh?
When we got back to town we decided to rent a car. The night before we had priced out tours for what we wanted to do - renting a car was waaaaay cheaper. So we drove out to La Fortuna waterfall since it was close to town, and close to dark.
We had just enough time for a fast hike in, and a quick swim before the park closed. Good timing anyway, because a thunder storm was rolling in.
Brahma cow on the way back. This area was hot, and brahmas are more heat tolerant than other breeds, so we saw them frequently.
The day ended where it started, with good, fast, home cooked food.
