First Day!!!
I had my first day of school today, it went well. I am going to have to get organized quick with 7 classes. I'm still feeling a bit stupid and not like myself, so I'll be glad when that wears off and I can buckle down and focus on school. My parents delivered me to Eugene and took my picture and everything!
Surgery
Before surgery, I'm surprised Aaron got a smile out of me...I was super nervous, my surgery was over 2 hours late and it was 2 pm and all that I'd eaten that day were 2 graham crackers at 6 am.
The day of. I could barely keep my eyes open that evening.
Friday after a day of flying.
Last night, my biggest incision. It's a bit irritated since it's always getting rubbed there.
The 5 other incisions.
The contusions in my throat, it's no wonder it felt like I had strep for 3 days.
Overall it's gone pretty well. I could have used one more day at my parents, but school started today, so I didn't have the option. I am typing with two hands now and think I'll be able to put my hair up in a day or two. There has been a lot of pain, starting from the beginning. Aaron said it was one of the first things I said when I came to. I stopped any real pain meds after puking up my last Vicodin at 5:30 Saturday morning. I'm also still a bit foggy from the anesthesia, so I'm looking forward to the next few days when I get back to normal.

Recovering
I am alive. I made it home and am happy that my mom is holding me prisoner. I was in no shape to take care of myself when I landed. I'm getting better each day but really not feeling up to a full day of labs tomorrow. The day I flew home I didn't elevate at all, so I think that's set me back a bit. I was very swollen. Pictures to come. They punched 6 holes in my elbow. That's enough one handed typing for now.

NorthShore
We drove north to Lake Superior, the first time for both of us. I think we were both surprised how very ocean like it was there. Light houses and seagulls and everything. It was getting a bit cold for camping, but it was dry and the leaves were changing and the campgrounds were empty, so it was nice.
Lake Superior
One of the many beautiful waterfalls we visited. There were 8 state parks lining the Minnesota coast line of Lake Superior, and all of them seemed to have their own special attraction.
Split Rock Light house
We took a tram ride at a ski resort on a tip from a woman at a visitor's center, and a good tip it was, for we got to see this....
The hillside just beginning to explode with color. They had a viewing perch at the end of the tram ride with hiking trails and a restaurant. It was foggy, but still very impressive.
Devil's Kettle, an unusual double waterfall, with the left falls dumping into an illusionary bottomless hole, while its neighbor flowed into the river.
We dipped into Ontario for a short hike to see the highest falls in Minnesota...we still aren't sure about that one...if we were in Minnesota for part of the hike or what. This is High Falls.
Today we went to the Mayo Clinic for my elbow appointment. We first saw the resident who examined me and said, well "looks like classic tendinitis", and upon hearing I came from Oregon, "I hope you didn't come out all this way just for this". Then the doctor came in, examined me and determined that it was not tendinitis, one of the manual tests he did was negative and he said if I had tendinitis, it would have been really painful. I told him that my elbow clicks when I rotate and when he saw that he said he thinks something is catching inside, and thinks I may have damaged the end of my radius when I jammed it playing volleyball. Long story short I'm scheduled for minor surgery tomorrow and hopefully will get it cleaned up and be healed in 2 weeks. I wish the rest of the medical world worked this quickly and thoroughly. Wish me luck tomorrow! Surgery at noon, then flying home the next morning!

New Dot Set!!!
We are the proud new owners of a New Dot Pyrex set in beautiful condition. I've been wanting this for a while. We saw it yesterday after visiting a bunch of 50s, 60s, 70s Retro stores, and came home to check it out on Ebay. We got a really good deal on it, especially since Aaron asked if they were firm on the price, they dropped it 20%!
These are some pictures from a farmer's market the other day. Farmer's markets are so much cheaper here than in Corvallis. We got these delicious sandwiches with the works, they were wonderful, thanks Hannah our sandwich artist!
We also got roasted sweet corn that was super good, and ginger medallions with good chocolate on them and some white chocolate/mango/chili powder/lime zest candy too. No produce that day.

The Zoo and Wall-E
We went to the Minnesota Zoo today and had a great time, the weather was perfect and it was nice to get a lot of walking in. It was a nice zoo, some highlights were the tapir, the close up brown bears entertaining us and themselves by trying to step on the fish swimming at their feet, watching a cow get milked, and watching the sun bear discover honey spots all around its enclosure.
This is what happens when you open a wide mouth Nalgene containing a liter of water, set it on the car seat next to you, then space out.
Aaron and the wild boars
Ok, Bald Eagles are HUGE, like really huge. We're talking a 7 foot wing span, and over 3 feet tall.
This is the bear that kept trying to stomp on the fish, it was totally ridiculous in that deep of water.
This is Godiva, a Brown Swiss cow. She is beautiful and if I ever have cows, I will get this breed.
After the zoo we went to see Wall-E. Loved it loved it loved it!
We had the place to ourselves, it was great!
By the way, Amber, we walked home from downtown yesterday and stumbled upon this place, the Textile Center. It made me want to live here! They have all sorts of cool classes, a dye room where you can make a mess someplace other than your own house, a big library, homemade and home dyed textiles for sale, and what a great place to meet people and have them show you how to do new things. It was really nice and big, and I hope to be able to take a class there next time I'm in town. They had recently had a trunk show with shibori art, there was a woman there that shiboris felted wool! I hope Eugene has something like this!

Aaron's Birthday
I made Aaron a batik back in May and can't believe I actually kept it a secret from him! His birthday was in August, but I wanted to give him this in person. He really loves it, and I'm glad I kept it as a surprise.

Date Night
We went out for a nice dinner and to the chamber orchestra. The orchestra wasn't that great...well let me rephrase that, the musicians were great, we just weren't very into Stravinsky, so we took off at intermission and got some wonderful dessert at Pazzaluna. Rich, you would have loved the pianist tonight, he was definitely animated.
On the bus ride home. It was nice to get home earlier tonight and relax. We got home pretty late last night.
St. Paul
I made it Minnesota pretty painlessly. Well, sort of, my arms are still bothering me, but the flights were short and easy.
Last night we saw They Might Be Giants and a really good band called Ra Ra Riot. Check their stuff out, it's upbeat, melodic and they incorporate their electric violin and cello beautifully. They were a lot of fun to see live. Today we are off to run some school errands and just hang out together. Tonight we are going to the St. Paul chamber orchestra for a nice date.
