Pepper Flakes

We are still reaping the benefits of that huge Hood River garden. We hung our cayenne pepper plants to dry in the fall, then bagged them in mesh until we were ready to process them. I love things that wait for our schedule!

These were so easy to work with - we just pinched the stems off and picked out any bad or dirty parts, then threw them in the Cuisinart.

This was a second batch, it worked much better being full. The first run was only partially filled and didn't break down as well.

Easily enough red pepper flakes to last us a year!

Whoa, is it seriously that easy to make pepper flakes? I'm not guessing I'll grow that many peppers, but I could buy them while cheap at the farmer's market. I need to make a list of summer gardening/put up stuff, wanna do that soon?

That would last me a few years!

I'm pretty positive this isn't cost effective - pepper flakes are cheap! But we had enough space to play around with stuff like this. Sure we can make a list, we'll probably take it pretty easy this year. Lots left from last year. Excited to see what Salem Harvest brings our way!
