I got up bright and early to drive to Clark College in Vancouver. I am glad that I shaved about an hour off my drive in the morning by staying in Salem. The campus is really nice, the program seemed nice too. It was a long day of mingling, listening, test taking, interviewing, and touring. I will find out in late April if I have been accepted there or not. I have a lot of decisions to make in the next few months.
Then I met up with Rich for dinner at a Moroccan restaurant in NW Portland. It was so much fun and super good too.
The interior, it was quite dark in there, which set a nice mood. Good for making out in the corner. Bad for viewing Disneyland pictures.
I didn't get a picture of the first course, lentil soup. I didn't think I liked lentil soup. I liked theirs, very much. I'm not sure what this was, cucumber dipping wonderfulness with fennel seed bread.
This was quite possibly one of the top five things I've ever put in my mouth. Where to start...light flaky filo filled with melt-in-your-mouth meat, egg, almonds, spices, cinnamon, topped with powdered sugar and more cinnamon. Now if someone had described this to me, I would have said, hmm, that doesn't sound very good. I'm not usually a big fan of cinnamon and meat together. But this was absolute heaven.
The filling:
My main dish, Couscous Marrakesh. It was good, but by far the least delicious thing I ate. I was totally full at this point anyway, that I boxed it up to take home.
Rich got the salmon, also delicious.
With his milk and straws.
I didn't get a picture of dessert, sliced fruit in a cinnamon ginger sauce and sweet mint tea. I didn't want to blind the people next to us. How did I forget the wonderful service, they washed your hands for you before and after you ate, and at the end put this awesome rose oil water on your hands that moisturizes just enough and makes your hands smell so good!
I guess I should have asked the guy next to us if he had ever used a camera before, before I had him take our picture. I've taken less blurry pictures out of a moving car, but anyway, I'm glad we did get A picture.
Rich, I had a really nice dinner with you. It was a relaxing end to a hectic and tired day.

Erin,
I had a late night and I'm dead tired. At 1:30am I was thinking, "Don't get your hopes up, she was probably too tired to post." But the great Mom G never disappoints. Gotta love instant gratification with digital photos. Rich
PS... Ha ha ha, my milk and straws are SOOOO funny. (just remember, a real-life, New York woman told me that it was HOT!)
Ha! I was thinking the same thing about you commenting! He's going to be tired, it may take a day or two. I hope you had a fun night out.
I sure do wish I could've eaten that funny spicy meat tart. MMM! (It's been a while since anybody called ME that.) Also, I wish I could've gone out to dinner with Rich. Rich!
