Wedding Details: My Jewelry

I think my favorite thing that I wore on my wedding day were my earrings. I LOVE them. Aaron and I went to so many stores looking for the perfect earrings. We looked in Hood River. We looked in Portland. We looked in Corvallis. I scoured Etsy. Every pair that I thought could be the one was $400 or more. Or the stones were too small. Or too something. I was drawn to Oregon sunstone, but it was out of our price range. It was starting to get close to our wedding date and I decided to check Ebay. After searching for a few days I found the stones that I wanted. I ordered a pair of 38.6 carat (about 20 carats each) drilled briolette lemon quartz stones from this seller in Thailand. I paid $11.49 + $10 shipping. Aaron made a practice pair of earrings, so I felt confident that he could make them for me. I decided to go without a necklace and let the earrings shine.
They turned out fantastic.

Enter next problem. Three days before the wedding I was trying on my dress with my mom and my sister and realized I really needed to wear a necklace to break up all the chest/neck space with a strapless dress. Yellow crystals are really hard to match with. I tried on some of my mom's pearl jewelry and it did look nice with my dress, but I just couldn't give up the earrings. Two days before the wedding, Aaron and I were in Corvallis. We wanted to make a necklace, but there was just too much going on, weird huh? So we had a nice girl at Day Dreamers bead shop whip one up for us with some Swarovski yellow crystals from Creative Craft and Frame. We spent about $40 for the earrings - the stones plus sterling ear wires and sterling wire to wrap the stones, and I think the necklace was around $20. Not bad for custom jewelry!

so creative + talented, both of you! love those earrings, and how great the gal at the bead shop (that's now closed) could help with the necklace.

What?! They closed? That's crappy.

Thanks you guys! I think the internet makes it easier to be talented :) You can look up how to do anything!
